Baked Tempeh ‘Bacon’
1 block organic tempeh
2 tbsp coconut aminos
2 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp coconut nectar
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp grated ginger
2 tsp liquid smoke (optional)
salt and pepper to taste
Slice tempeh about a 1/4 inch thick. Add all marinade ingredients into a bowl and whisk well. Add tempeh into marinade and when well combined place in fridge for at least an hour or over night. Preheat oven to 400F and like a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place tempeh on the baking sheet half an inch apart and bake for 10 minutes. Brush marinade on the tempeh and bake again for another 10 minutes. Take out, flip and brush with marinade again. Bake another 10 minutes. Take out brush the final time with the marinade and bake again another 10 minutes or until brown and crunchy.
